Uta Gay

A mostly self-taught artist, Uta Gay has been living in Golden Bay for fifteen years. She gained many of her skills, much experience and great inspiration from the rich artistic community she lives in, as well as the beautiful land and sea surrounding Golden Bay.

Uta has had the priviledge of working alongside such artists as Michel Tuffery, Silvia Siddell and John Parker and has benefited from their experience, enthusiasm and encouragement.

"I approached this exhibition as a Retrospective - a Looking Back", she says. "It is meant to be an acknowledgement of where I have come from, the journey behind me - and it might be a preparation for moving on - the journey ahead".

By going through her sketchbooks and painting one painting from every significant part of her artistic journey, Uta was able to recognise clearly the main theme of her work, as well as the continuity of her artistic progress. "I also acknowledged my progression as an artist and had a deep sense of Being".

"It was a most enjoyable and uplifting experience".
